St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System
Two Savannah hospitals partnered in 1997 to create the largest faith-based nonprofit health institution in the region, St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System. Its two anchor hospitals, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Candler Hospital, have total capacities of 330 beds and 384 beds respectively. SJ/C offers prim ary care and more than a dozen specialized inpatient and outpatient services including those for women and children, oncology, pulmonology, cardiovascular care, digestive disease services, neurological/neurosurgical care, and orthopedics.

SJ/C has achieved network accreditation status – a rare honor – in addition to its accreditation by the Joint Commission. It is the only health provider in the region to have achieved both network accreditation status and MAGNET status for nursing excellence, which it just earned for the fourth time. The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion is part of the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Research Pavilion is part of the National Cancer Institute’s Oncology Research Program. SJ/C has earned the highest award for stroke care by the American Stroke Association. SJ/C received the 2012 Foster McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Services from the American Hospital Association.
