Advocacy in Action: Celebrating Progress in the Fight Against Homelessness

The Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH) and Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless (CSAH) report a significant 22.5% decrease in homelessness from 2023 to 2024, as revealed by the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count. This achievement reflects the community’s commitment to addressing homelessness.

CSAH’s comprehensive analysis combines PIT count data with service outcomes, providing a holistic understanding of contributing factors and effective strategies. The ICH invites all members to a detailed presentation on the PIT count and service data findings on July 11th at 9:00 AM at the Coastal Georgia Center. CSAH has also shared data with Path Forward, the ICH strategic planning group, to aid their ongoing efforts. Path Forward recently presented a needs assessment to the ICH board and plans to share a 5-year strategic plan later this year.

While more work remains, particularly in the downtown area, we recognize the efforts of the ICH, CSAH, local government, non-profit providers, and community members involved in this work.
