Buy Local Launches 912 Day Campaign to Encourage Community to Shop Local

To highlight the importance of supporting local businesses, Buy Local is launching a special 912 Day shopping campaign that will run from Thursday, September 12, through Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Shoppers are encouraged to pick up a free, special edition 912 Day reusable shopping bag at the 912 Day table at the Savannah Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo on September 12 or to stop by one of the participating local businesses listed below to receive a bag while supplies last. Customers who bring their bag to participating stores and eateries may enjoy exclusive offers throughout the campaign at select locations.

Participating Buy Local members include:
• Avni Farms (Starland District Bull Street location only)
• Big Bon Bodega
• Emily McCarthy Collection
• The Fancy Pheasant (15% off purchase, excluding art)
• Howe2Run (10% off purchase, excluding electronics and nutrition)
• Mint to Be Mojito
• Morgan Rae Boutique (20% off purchase)
• The Pirates’ House (free Pirates’ House keychain when shoppers bring their 912 Day bag and make a gift shop purchase)
• River Street Sweets (Habersham Street Location only)
• Vendors on Victory (choice of gift with purchase up to $20 value, while supplies last)

A full list of participating businesses can be found HERE.

Celebrating its 25th year of empowering independent businesses in Chatham County, Buy Local hopes this fun shopping campaign will encourage the community to learn more about the benefits and positive economic impact of spending with locally-owned businesses. Statistics show that local retailers retain 289% more revenue for their area economy than chain stores.

“For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, approximately $68 remains in the local economy,” said Somi Benson-Jaja, 2024 Buy Local President. “This is why we remain committed to supporting and empowering local independent businesses through advocacy as one of Savannah’s leading member-based business organizations.” Learn more about Buy Local HERE.
