Amazon Selects Pooler Location for New Fulfillment Facility

Amazon has selected the Chatham County Development Site, known as the Pooler megasite, for a new 640,000-square foot fulfillment facility that will bring 1,000 jobs and nearly $250 million in investment. The location, originally part of the City of Pooler near I-95 and I-16, is a 1,900-acre site that was de-annexed in 2015 and became part of unincorporated Chatham County. The facility is expected to be operational by late 2022, and will feature Amazon robotics technology, who will work alongside employees.

The announcement means that Amazon continues to expand into the region, following 2020 opening of a delivery station in Port Wentworth that employs 50 workers. Prior to the Port Wentworth project in 2018, Amazon had constructed a temporary tent warehouse in the Effingham Park of Commerce.

Thank you to Governor Brian Kemp and the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Savannah Economic Development Authority, and the Georgia Ports Authority.
