Leadership Savannah returned from its annual City to City program this week. The class traveled to Atlanta where the Georgia Economic Development Authority and Georgia Power hosted the first portion of the program at the Georgia Experience Center. The City of Atlanta’s Department of Housing and Community Development presented on the challenges of providing affordable housing in a booming economy and what tools are available to local government.
The following day, the class was hosted by the city of Peachtree Corners and the Curiosity Lab. Peachtree Corners was incorporated in 2010 and is the newest city in Gwinnett County. After its creation, the Curiosity Lab began as its non-profit partner that operates as an incubator for technology and automated transportation. The class was able to ride in a fully autonomous bus and see the other innovations being used in a real-world environment – the streets of the future.
Special thanks to our member Georgia Power and the Leadership Savannah alumni, as well as board members who traveled with the class for this year’s pilgrimage.
