Legislative Update

The Georgia General Assembly completed legislative days 13 through 16 of the 40-day session. They convened on Monday, February 6 and worked through Thursday, February 9. The General Assembly returns to session on Monday, February 13, for legislative day 17 and will work through legislative day 20.

In addition to the above, the Hub Chamber Council sponsored a breakfast at the Capitol last Tuesday. The Hub Chamber Council is a working policy group that is a joint effort between the Georgia Chamber and 11 metropolitan Hub Chambers of Commerce across Georgia. The Council advances research, develops policy solutions, and supports legislation on issues that affect business in hub communities throughout the state. Focus areas for the 2023 Legislative Session include workforce development and housing, future-forward infrastructure, defense community security, and fiscal security. The Hub Chamber heard from various members of the Georgia General Assembly and other government leaders who addressed topics of concern for the 11-member Hub Chamber Council. Several topics were discussed, including transportation, pro-military legislation, and business-friendly tax policies.
