Leadership Savannah Class Learn About Tourism and The Arts in June’s Program

Leadership Savannah was hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where the 2023 Class heard from leaders in the arts and historic preservation community at the SCAD Museum. The class visited the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum where Georgia Civil Rights champion Mercedes Wright Arnold, fondly known as the “Sweetheart of the Movement,” spoke to the class about her personal recollections of the civil rights movement in Savannah.

The day program ended with a spirited presentation from Visit Savannah’s President Joe Marinelli and Tourism Leadership Council’s President Michael Owens. Both leaders shared the profound impact the visitor economy has on our community.
