Leadership Savannah Hosts Law and Order Day

Leadership Savannah recently visited the Chatham County Courthouse to learn about the criminal justice system. The class was hosted by Judge Elizabeth Coolidge of State Court and heard from Judge Elizabeth Gobeil of the Georgia Court of Appeals, Judge Tim Walmsley of Superior Court, Clerk of Superior Court Tammie Mosely, Circuit Public Defender Todd Martin, Sheriff John Wilcher and his Chief Deputy, Gary Taylor.

For lunch, the class was hosted by Whip Triplett, of North Point Hospitality. Chief Jeff Hadley of the Chatham County Police Department, Assistant Chief Rob Gavin of the Savannah Police Department, and Director Michael Sarhatt of the Chatham County Counter Narcotics Team served as panelists for a discussion of policing.

The day gave Leadership Savannah participants a comprehensive overview of the criminal justice system, from policing and prosecution to the courts and defense. They learned about the roles of the various stakeholders involved in the system and the challenges they face. The class also discussed the importance of fairness and justice for all.
