Goodwill Southeast Georgia Celebrates Updated Berwick Store
Goodwill Southeast Georgia marked the renovation of its Berwick retail store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 25. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce joined Goodwill executives, staff, and supporters for the celebration. Goodwill Southeast Georgia President and CEO Jason Marshall highlighted the connection between the store and the organization’s mission. Proceeds from donated goods sales fund job training, placement services, and five Opportunity Centers throughout the region. The event underscored Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s ongoing commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening the community through employment opportunities. So far in 2024, Goodwill Southeast Georgia has served 1,221 individuals at its Opportunity Centers.
On-Demand Rides Arrive in Savannah with CAT SMART Microtransit
Chatham Area Transit (CAT) has launched its new CAT SMART Microtransit Pilot Program, bringing on-demand, flexible transportation to East Savannah. This ADA-accessible service operates seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., connecting riders to key areas like the Cove at Dundee, CAT Central, McAlpin Square, and the Savannah Golf Club. To use the service, download the free CAT SMART Transit app, easily request rides, and track your vehicle’s progress in real-time. The CAT SMART Microtransit Pilot Program aims to increase transportation access and equity within the Savannah community. This project demonstrates CAT’s commitment to innovative mobility solutions, made possible by the $1.2 Million USDOT SMART Grant secured by U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock.
