The Leadership Savannah Class of 2024 recently participated in a remarkable Military Day, visiting Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. The day kicked off with a command briefing from the Garrison Commander of Hunter Army Airfield as the group traveled to Fort Stewart. Upon arrival, the class toured the base and walked the Warrior’s Walk, a memorial honoring fallen soldiers. This solemn experience allowed participants to reflect on the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families.
A highlight of the day was an exhilarating Chinook helicopter flight from Fort Stewart back to Hunter Army Airfield, offering a rare aerial view of military operations. Once at Hunter, the class was greeted by military leadership, who shared insights into the challenges of recruiting a modern military force.
Participants also explored military tanks and vehicles, gaining a firsthand understanding of the vital equipment used in national defense. The day provided a unique opportunity to engage with military and civilian leaders, deepening their appreciation of the strong ties between Savannah and its military community.
