On December 7, Earl Humes, a 72-year-old Savannah resident, will lace up his sneakers for a remarkable milestone: his 30th Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run race.
Coined the “toughest bridge run in the South,” the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run draws in thousands, from seasoned runners to first-time racers, with its scenic views of Savannah. The Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run features a variety of race options, including a 5K, 10K, and a “double pump” 15K challenge.
As he prepares to take on his 30th race, Humes continues to inspire others with his dedication to staying active and embodiment of the spirit of Savannah’s vibrant racing community.
“I’ve been around the Bridge Run now for 18 years, from participating to helping to manage the event, and for as long as I’ve been around, Mr. Humes has always been there.” CEO of Visit Savannah Joseph Marinelli said. “We are so appreciative of Mr. Humes for his many years of support and participation. We hope to see him for 30 more years!”
Humes not only participates in races but also volunteers to help others participate. Most recently, Humes volunteered at the inaugural Every Woman’s Marathon, passing out bibs and helping to prepare the runners for the event.
