Visit Savannah’s Mindy Shea, director of tour, travel and international sales, recently accompanied the Travel South organization on a sales mission to France and Italy. Along with 27 of her counterparts from states around the Southeast, Shea met with over 100 tour operators and travel agents, and close to 150 travel writers in Milan, Lyon and Paris.
The trip entailed a mixture of one-on-one meetings, in-office trainings, and special events. The most popular of those events were the shrimp-and-grits cooking classes conducted by two prominent Charleston chefs. France and Italy are among the top feeder countries into Savannah, and their visitation has continued to increase throughout 2018.
