20,000+ Victims of Hurricane Michael Homeless for the Holidays

According to PBS NewsHour, more than 20,000 people in southwest Georgia and the Florida panhandle were still without shelter at Thanksgiving due to the loss of their homes after Hurricane Michael. As the weather turns colder, these people in tents and shelters will need supplies while they wait for a more permanent solution. We ask that you consider opening your heart in the spirit of the holidays and make a donation to help our neighbors.
The American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia, which has been a part of our community since Saint Patrick’s Day of 1917, has set up a special donation site which will track the amount of donations contributed by Chamber members and direct them into the Hurricane Michael relief fund. The Red Cross also encourages those willing and able to make donations of blood or platelets to visit our local American Red Cross Donation Center at 25 Tibet Avenue (call 1-800-448-3543 to make an appointment).
