Savannah and Hinesville Advocate for Military in D.C.

On June 6 and 7, Chairman of the Savannah Area Chamber Sam McCachern, Chamber President and CEO Bill Hubbard and the mayors of the cities of Savannah and Hinesville traveled to Washington, D.C. to proactively represent assets and advocate for the continued presence of the military in our coastal region by meeting with representatives on Capitol Hill and at the Pentagon.
Meetings were held with congressional leaders and Department of Defense officials including: Georgia Senators Johnny Isakson and David Perdue; Georgia Representatives Austin Scott, Buddy Carter; Tom Graves and Sanford Bishop; Mr. Randall Robinson, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installation Energy and Environment; Brigadier General Patrick Matlock, Director of Force Management, G-3/5/7; Major General James Rainey (former 3ID Commander) Force Management, G-3/5/7; Lieutenant General Mike Murray (former 3ID Commander) Army Assistant Chief of Staff, G-8.

These visits are an example of the Savannah Area Chamber’s efforts to help preserve our local military value, which accounts for an economic impact of approximately $5 billion, thousands of jobs and families who contribute to our community’s quality of life.
