Savannah Women’s Half Raises $43,000 For LLS

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program received more than $43,000 through race donations and participant fundraising as the official charity of the Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K. The race took place Saturday, March 28, with other related events occurring throughout the weekend.
“We are grateful to the Savannah Sports Council for choosing LLS as the charity partner of the inaugural event,” said Jennie Brewster, campaign manager for LLS. “The funds and awareness raised through this event will further research and patient services for blood cancer patients.”

More than 2,300 people participated in the race, with 42 women raising money and running as a part of Team in Training. Event participants also were able to make a donation to LLS while registering.

“The race not only offered a fun opportunity for women to plan a weekend getaway to Savannah, but also to give back to a great organization,” said Ben Wilder, Savannah Sports Council director.
