From July 13-15, Visit Savannah’s group tour team, Mindy Shea and Chelsea Paulsen, hosted 11 tour operators based out of the Midwest and Southeast. The familiarization (FAM) tour showcased some of Savannah’s key attractions inside and outside the Historic District including a Gullah Geechee experience at Pinpoint Heritage Museum, where a live crab netting demonstration was given, and Tybee Island’s ecotourism efforts. The FAM ended with a live show at the Savannah Theatre. Tour operators who attended the FAM already have expressed interest in planning tour dates for next spring and fall.
