City Council Votes to Hire City Manager Candidate Rob Hernandez

Last Thursday, the Savannah City Council voted unanimously to hire Rob Hernandez as City Manager. Mr. Hernandez plans to start on October 10. A lifelong public servant with more than 25 years of local government management experience, Mr. Hernandez previously served as Deputy City Manager of Coral Springs, Florida and Deputy County Manager of Fulton County, Georgia and currently serves as Deputy County Administrator of Broward County, Florida. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1983-2008. As Savannah’s new city manager, Mr. Hernandez’s list of priorities include development of a long-range strategic plan for Savannah and actively addressing the issues of public safety, aging infrastructure, poverty and economic development.
