Earlier this month, Visit Savannah and Leopold’s Ice Cream partnered to celebrate Leopold’s centennial birthday concurrently with National Ice Cream Month by hosting a free ice cream day at the Decatur Farmer’s Market. Leopold’s gave away free scoops of some of their most popular flavors at the “life is sweeter in Savannah”-themed event, while Visit Savannah promoted a summer getaway to Savannah to residents of the Atlanta area by giving away a two-night stay at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa. Atlanta is one of Savannah and Tybee Island’s biggest feeder markets.

While in the Atlanta area, Visit Savannah and Carey Ferrara of Leopold’s also took some time to pay a visit to the editorial staff of Atlanta Magazine and Southbound Magazine, and treat them to an afternoon ice cream snack. Since many of Savannah’s overnight visitors come from the Atlanta area, maintaining a strong relationship with Atlanta Magazine is an important media relations function.
