The City of Savannah hosted the graduation and closing ceremony for its annual Summer 500 program Friday, July 26 at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center.
Nearly 300 high school juniors and seniors completed the program that included a paid summer job and career skills training. Students were employed by more than 100 area businesses, who have collectively invested more than $2 million into the program since its inception in 2016.
The goal of the Summer 500 program is to help students gain hands-on work experience and develop life skills, ensuring students are fully equipped to succeed in an increasingly competitive job market and understand the vast array of career opportunities available in our area.
Programs like these are not possible without substantial community support and participation. Thank you to our area businesses and others who have stepped forward made such a significant investment in the future of our workforce.
