Visit Savannah staff along with hotel and convention center partners welcomed the site selection committee from the American Society of Plant Biologists last week. The ASPB was in Savannah to do a final site inspection before making their decision on which city will host their August, 2023 annual convention. That convention would welcome approximately 1,500 attendees and generate approximately $1.2 million dollars in visitor spending during what is typically a slower visitor season.

The group had a customized “greening of the fountain” ceremony at the Savannah Convention Center and was later welcomed by Mayor Van Johnson. Needless to say, the group was very impressed with Savannah’s unified voice.
