Chamber Celebrates Early Learning Center Groundbreaking in East Savannah

The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce proudly joins the celebration of the groundbreaking for the Early Learning Center, a cornerstone project of East Savannah United. This transformative initiative made possible through SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funding, is a collaborative effort between the City of Savannah, Chatham County, and local business leaders. It highlights the power of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable community development.

Chamber Board Member Sam McCachern, serving alongside Vice President Jennifer Davenport on East Savannah United’s board, has been instrumental in advancing this effort. The project is part of a comprehensive revitalization plan for the Hitch Village and Blackshear neighborhoods, modeled after Atlanta’s successful Purpose Built Communities initiative.

“The Early Learning Center represents what we can achieve when businesses, government, and residents unite around a shared vision,” said McCachern. “It’s not just a building; it’s an investment in our children, our community, and workforce development.”

East Savannah United’s holistic vision integrates education, mixed-income housing, and health services. The Early Learning Center will deliver high-quality early education, while partners like Goodwill of Southeast Georgia will provide job training and support for residents.

Congratulations to East Savannah United and its partners on this milestone, which exemplifies the impact of collaborative leadership in building a brighter Savannah.
