On Friday, May 26, Col. Rainier “Speedy” Gomez, Commander of the 165th Airlift Wing, awarded the Georgia Commendation Medal to Drew Hunt, the Savannah Area Chamber’s director of community relations, in recognition of her efforts in supporting the Georgia Air National Guard and the military missions of the Coastal Empire. The award recognized Hunt’s achievements in effort to bridge the Chamber’s more than 2,200 members with military assets and personnel in the coastal Georgia region, and coordination of financial support for visiting military VIP partners including the Republic of Georgia, Argentina, The Netherlands, Denmark and Germany. The award also recognizes Hunt’s development of community awareness for emerging leaders by linking the 165th Airlift, Hunter Army Air Field and Fort Stewart missions to Leadership Savannah classmates.
