The Chamber’s Tara Reese, Member Relations Manager and this year’s treasurer for the Savannah Irish Festival Committee, hosted Dara Calleary, Ireland’s Minister for Social Protection, Rural & Community Development, and the Gaeltacht. The podcast, recorded last week at Billy’s Place above McDonough’s, was part of a collaboration between the Festival Committee, Frank Groom, Irish Consul—Atlanta, and Nicole Sheils, Vice Consul—Atlanta.
During the episode, Minister Calleary, Deana Shores (Festival President), and Tara Reese (Treasurer) discussed important topics such as the Irish Festival’s role in preserving Irish culture, the historical connection between Ireland and Savannah, the Irish government’s view of the global Irish diaspora, and the economic impact of Irish businesses in Georgia and the U.S.
