Governor Kemp Unveils Lawsuit Reform Initiative at Georgia Chamber’s Congressional Luncheon in Athens

Earlier this month, Savannah Area Chamber President & CEO Bert Brantley and Vice President Jared Downs attended the Georgia Chamber’s Congressional Luncheon at the Classic Center in Athens. The event drew 1,500 attendees and brought together Georgia’s federal elected officials and prominent business leaders.

During his welcoming address, Governor Brian Kemp greeted the audience. He announced his plan to conduct a listening tour and host three roundtable discussions as part of a new initiative focused on lawsuit reform. This issue has long posed challenges for political leaders. Governor Kemp reaffirmed his commitment to finding a “quality solution” to address rising costs, building on the surprise support he expressed for this cause at last year’s luncheon.

The keynote address was delivered by Amy Walter, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, who discussed the implications of the 2024 presidential election and Georgia’s pivotal role in it. U.S. Representatives Mike Collins, Sanford Bishop, Austin Scott, and Drew Ferguson also spoke to the attendees.
