Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia’s Opens Much-Anticipated New Food Bank Campus
Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia celebrated the grand opening of its much-anticipated new Food Bank Campus on April 15, 2024, at 1380 Chatham Parkway, Savannah, GA. Executive Director Mary Jane Crouch welcomed local dignitaries, donors, and friends. Chairman Chester Ellis, President Trip Tollison, Mayor Van Johnson, and Deputy Commissioner Rusty Haygood included speakers. After the ribbon cutting, guests toured the facility and enjoyed lunch in the new cafeteria. Established in 1981, Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is a volunteer-driven nonprofit food bank that distributes nutritious food to thousands in need, partnering with 245 agencies for hunger relief.

Rick Garman of Savannah Cabaret inaugurated the Opening Night of “Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein” with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking their first full production in Savannah. Attendees were treated to a sneak peek of the pop-up museum celebrating Mel Brooks’ illustrious career, where Brooks himself signed memorabilia for a silent auction. Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the iconic film “Young Frankenstein,” guests enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse of the stage set and had the opportunity to meet the cast. Mayor Johnson praised Savannah’s growth as both a community and a tourist destination, commending Rick Garman for his investment in the arts and his contribution to bringing a fresh form of entertainment to Savannah and its visitors.
