Last Tuesday, Owen Brier from the office of Senator Ossoff met with small business owners over lunch. Chamber Chairman Allyson Harvin, along with some board members and Chamber staffers, welcomed Brier for an open forum discussion. Chamber’s Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Jared Downs, and Vice President of Community Affairs, Jennifer Davenport led the opening remarks.
Important topics were brought to the forefront, such as the adverse effects of lack of housing and a skilled workforce on the small business community. Other pain points and issues facing the greater Savannah region like inflation, infrastructure shortage, childcare, mental healthcare, rapid city growth, and future energy needs took center stage.
Brier visited as part of Senator Ossof’s staff traveling through the state of Georgia during the Senate’s August recess. Brier and his team have been covering cities in Georgia as a broader effort to learn more about regional issues.
