Leadership Savannah is holding the first of its 2017 Graduate Leadership Savannah offerings, providing additional learning opportunities for past graduates of the Leadership program. The first presentation will be “Film Savannah,” to be held October 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m at Savannah Technical College’s Eckburg Auditorium. Parking will be available in the rear parking lot. The cost is $25 and can be paid at the door.

At this first Graduate Leadership Savannah program, past class members are invited to learn how state and local incentives, a growing infrastructure and a growing workforce are helping to grow this industry in our area. Attendees will hear from Savannah Technical College’s Georgia Film Academy, the Savannah Economic Development Authority and the Savannah Area Film Office as well as participate in demonstrations on what it is like to work on productions, and how to get involved.

As the third most popular filming site in the nation after New York and California, Georgia has become the “new Hollywood,” and Savannah is quickly becoming a popular choice for entertainment production. Last year, the entertainment production industry had a $61 million direct spend impact on Chatham County.
