JCB marked the production of 1,000 high mobility engineer excavators during a ceremony at the company’s North America headquarters in Pooler on Thursday, August 30. More than 900 HMEEs have been delivered to the U.S. Army and a further 80 HMEEs are in service with nine allied militaries around the world. The JCB HMEE was developed to meet a U.S. Army requirement for a uniquely mobile and versatile backhoe loader that could travel at convoy speeds and protect military personnel.
JCB is one of the key contributors to our local manufacturing industry, which accounts for thousands of jobs and overall economic impact of more than $3 billion. Commonly known for their innovative practices, JCB is also a leader in workforce training through their student apprenticeship program. Designed to grow skilled and knowledgeable employees, the program offers high school graduates an opportunity to receive intensive skills training throughout various sectors of the company, all while receiving a paycheck. The program, created in 2012, has continued to experience outstanding growth with plans that only include expansion for the future.
