SCCPSS Welcomes New Superintendent

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System officially bid farewell to its superintendent of 12 years, Dr. Thomas Lockamy on Wednesday, May 31. The Savannah Area Chamber and Savannah Economic Development Authority recently hosted a reception of various community members to thank Dr. Lockamy for his service and welcome incoming Superintendent Dr. Ann Levett.
Around 500 guests attended Dr. Levett’s oath of office ceremony on May 31, which included various members from the business community, Savannah Area Chamber board and staff.

With the retirement of Dr. Lockamy coming at the end of the 2016-17 school year, the SCCPSS board of education conducted a nationwide superintendent search before selecting then Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Levett as the top candidate.

The Savannah Area Chamber congratulates Dr. Levett on her selection as Superintendent and looks forward to its continued efforts as a community partner to the SCCPSS.
