Vested Interest in K9s, a non-profit providing protection to law enforcement K9 units across the country, is sponsoring a contest to give away a fully equipped Chevy Tahoe SUV to one eligible officer/K9 team! The only team from Georgia in consideration to win the prize is Savannah PD’s Corporal Ben Ferrero and his partner, K9 Officer Dooly, and they need your votes before 11:59 p.m. October 31. Vested Interest in K9s was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies obtain this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 3,000 protective vests, in all 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of over 5.7 million dollars.
The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. with law enforcement or related agencies who are certified and at least 20 months of age. New K9 graduates, as well as K9s with expired vests, are eligible to participate.
