2018 Savannah Tire Hockey Classic Brings Thrills and Spills to the Civic Center

Last weekend, the Savannah Sports Council hosted one of its most popular events of the year, the Savannah Tire Hockey Classic. The weekend kicked off with the Hockey Classic Business Connection on Thursday night, where more than 200 local professionals enjoyed sips and bites from Outback Steakhouse Abercorn and networking with their fellow members while watching a pre-tournament scrimmage between Super Goose’s Wolf Pack and The Carolina Kings.
Friday night, the first game of the night saw Georgia Tech go head to head with the Florida State Seminoles before the Florida Gators were matched with the Georgia Bulldogs in the second game. Winners on night one were Georgia Tech in game one and University of Florida in game two.

On night two, the Seminoles played the Gators in the first game, while the Yellow Jackets and the Bulldogs matched up in the second. Game results were Florida State over UF in game one, and UGA over Georgia Tech in game two.

At the end of the tournament, UGA walked away as the Thrasher Cup champions for the second year in a row. It is the eighth time they have won the tournament since the first event in 1999.
