In late January, Visit Savannah’s director of digital marketing Lauren Cleland and communications manager Summer Bozeman attended TravMedia’s International Media Marketplace at the Javits Center in New York City, as well as the launch of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s Destination Showcase nearby on 5th Avenue. At IMM, each one had more than 25 appointments with qualified members of the media who were interested in writing about Savannah and Tybee Island, then left the event for the IGLTA Showcase, where they discussed Savannah’s appeal as a welcoming romantic and family destination with about 40 writers, bloggers and IGLTA board members. This trip was one of several planned opportunities for the media relations team to reach out to writers and editors with targeted publications to discuss editorial opportunities.
