Visit Savannah’s “Forrest Gump” Gets a Refresh
After nearly seven years in his comfortable spot at the Georgia Welcome Center on I-95 (Southbound from South Carolina), Visit Savannah’s Forrest Gump got some much-needed TLC. Craftsman repainted areas where visitors picked at the statue and refreshed the general wear and tear. Kellie Lord-Zieba, Manager of the Center, says that thousands get their picture taken with Forrest or on the nearby trolley or the beach swing, driving them to Savannah and Tybee Island.
