Last week, Visit Savannah’s director of PR Erica Backus and communications manager Summer Bozeman traveled to Philadelphia for the Public Relations Society of America Travel & Tourism Section annual conference. This specialized group has more than 500 members and is passionate about exchanging knowledge through providing tips and tactics at a different conference location each year. The conference includes roundtable discussions with other CVB PR staffs, and sessions and panels by some of travel media’s top editors and strategy leaders, including editorial leadership of the New York Times, AFAR Media, The National, CNN Travel, National Geographic Traveler and more. The media relations team came back with new knowledge on maximizing Google analytics, leveraging brand engagement, providing diversity and inclusion, avoiding burnout, and pitching to travel media.
