The Visit Savannah sales team, along with our hospitality partners, welcomed 14 meeting planners for a familiarization Tour (FAM) of our destination and the Savannah Convention Center Expansion project.

Invited planners represented organizations considering Savannah for city-wide conventions in the future. Some organizations represented were the National Association of College Stores, Servepro Industries, and The International Jewelers Organization. The Visit Savannah and the City of Savannah leadership helped welcome the group during the FAMs opening reception at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa. Mayor Van Johnson and City Manager Jay Melder spoke on the beauty of our destination and the dedication to hospitality and service by our tourism community.

The group also experienced a hard hat tour of the Savannah Convention Center Expansion, a Savannah River cruise, and a Historic District trolley tour, including a stop at the Harper Fowlkes House. The event wrapped with a closing breakfast at Forsyth Park with a special appearance by the Savannah Bananas.

The team was happy to hear from more than one participant that they “We can’t wait to bring our meeting to Savannah!”
