The Savannah Sports Council’s advisory board met for the first time in 2018 last week at the Chamber of Commerce offices. After welcoming everyone, board Chair Ryan Sewell presented several updates to the board’s bylaws as well as the results of a recent survey of board members regarding an array of initiatives. Tim Iley of the upcoming Web.com Tour Savannah Golf Championship event to be played at The Landings Club presented an update on the event and provided a schedule to board members for event week.
Sports Council Director Rob Wells also gave a report about his attendance at the Connect Sports LGBTQ Sports Summit from earlier this month, and the leads garnered while there. Wells was also able to announce three new sports events to be held in Savannah in the upcoming year, and a new title sponsor for Savannah’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon weekend. This is the first time that the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Savannah will have a title sponsor, and it is expected to create additional exposure for the race.
The next advisory board meeting is scheduled for April 11 at 8:30 a.m.
