The Advisory Board for the Savannah Sports Council held its bi-monthly meeting last Tuesday, June 6. The Board, which is comprised of 25 sports-minded individuals from across various businesses in Savannah, met to discuss updates about Sports Council-owned events, upcoming events that impact tourism in Savannah and discuss any new business related to sports in Savannah.
Related to new business, the Savannah Sports Council welcomed guests from the Web.com’s Savannah Golf Championship staff. Drew Van Meeteren and Tim Iley stopped by to update the Board about 2018’s inaugural Web.com Tour event at The Landings Club. Drew mentioned the excitement of having professional golf back in Savannah and spoke on the opportunities to get involved in the event. Drew and the PGA staff will be working in the coming months to build a volunteer plan, meet with potential sponsors locally and continue to work out logistics for the event, which is slated for March 26 – April 1, 2018.

The next meeting of the Advisory Board, its fourth of the year, will be held in August.
