Savannah Welcomes Southern Legislative Conference

The Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) is holding its 69th Annual Meeting in Savannah this week, July 18-22, filling more than 2,600 hotel rooms and generating $1.4 million in direct spending and an overall economic impact of $2.4 million.
Attendees of the annual meeting are presiding officers and key legislators from 15 Southern states. In addition to scheduled sessions with keynote speakers U.S. (former) Senator Saxby Chambliss, Atlanta businessman, A. D. “Pete” Correll and Vince Dooley, attendees will package 50,000 meals for America’s Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia at the Hyatt Regency on July 19 and will participate in a two-mile wellness walk throughout the Historic District on July 20 hosted by Walk Georgia.

According to its website, the Southern Legislative Conference is a member-driven organization and the largest of four regional legislative groups operating under The Council of State Governments. The SLC Annual Meeting is the largest regional gathering of its kind, providing policymakers a forum to engage with regional and national policy experts on issues that matter most to them and their constituents, and to collaborate with other state government officials.
