Last week, members of Visit Savannah’s team spent several days pitching new and classic stories about Savannah and Tybee Island to editors of major publications based in New York City.
Visit Savannah President Joseph Marinelli, VP of Communications and Marketing Angela Westerfield, Director of Public Relations Erica Backus, and Communications Manager Tanvi Chauhan, met with senior editors and directors of various outlets. Among these were Travel Curator, Shermans Travel, Forbes, Hemispheres, Cosmopolitan, The Points Guy, Travel Weekly, and Saveur. With each publication, they tailored their pitch to inform and educate publishers about the latest in Savannah’s hotels, restaurants, attractions, culture, and festivals. The team asked editors and writers about trending topics and interests, and how Savannah can be a part of their 2023 stories.
The team also met a number of freelancers and influencers whose focus was Diversity and Inclusion, to whom travel’s cultural aspect was pivotal. These writers were pleased to discover the strong foothold of culture within our city’s history, and how it perpetuates and preserves itself in our food and festivals.
Visit Savannah aims to build valuable relationships with publishers and writers to showcase our city’s unique history, the many local businesses, and the new state-of-the-art entertainment districts that are expanding to enrich the traveler’s experience.
