Jeremy Harvey, Visit Savannah’s vice president of communications and marketing, attended a meeting of the U.S. Travel Destinations Council Board of Directors meeting in Washington, D.C. on April 9-10. At the meeting, the board discussed several ongoing initiatives including National Plan for Vacation Day, the council’s research sponsorship programs of destination tax analysis and the Destination Travel Economic Impact Calculator, the new Emerging Leaders program and the Destination Exchange program. Staff from the U.S. Travel gave updates on the Education Seminar for Tourism Organizations (ESTO) conference, International Pow Wow (IPW), National Travel and Tourism Week, and the association’s advocacy work with the Federal government.
In attendance were representatives from Wichita, Las Vegas, Bucks County (PA), Richmond (VA), Lexington (KY), San Francisco, Mesa (AZ), Atlanta, Washington, DC, Huntsville (AL), Pensacola, Cape Cod, and Salt Lake City.
