The recent quarterly meeting of the Savannah Tour and Travel Council was a treasure trove of information, offering attendees valuable updates on Visit Savannah initiatives, city reports, and travel schedules. The show’s real star, however, was a local company that caters to the group tour market: The Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum.
Executive Director Molly Carrott Taylor captivated the audience with a presentation showcasing the museum’s rich history. Housed in a historic building constructed in 1819 for William Scarbrough, a key figure behind the Savannah – the first steamship to cross the Atlantic – the museum itself is a fascinating piece of Savannah’s past.
Mrs. Taylor didn’t stop there. She also unveiled exciting new exhibits and group programs designed to enthrall visitors. The well-attended meeting concluded with a complimentary tour of the museum, a powerful reminder of this hidden gem and its potential to enrich the group travel experience in Savannah.
